Cookie & Storage Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
The short version
CALMFAX does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We only use essential browser storage that is strictly necessary to sign you in and remember your settings. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), strictly necessary storage does not require a consent banner.
What we store
- Sign-in state — your Firebase Authentication session, so you stay signed in between visits.
- Settings cache — a local copy of your preferences (location, feeds, theme, motion, dwell) so the app loads instantly and works briefly offline.
- Offline app cache — if you install CALMFAX or simply keep using it, a service worker stores the app's own files (code, styles and icons) in your browser so it loads quickly and still opens when you are offline. It holds no personal data.
- Install prompt preference — if you dismiss the optional “Install CALMFAX” hint, we remember that locally so we don't show it again.
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies.
- No third-party analytics or tracking pixels.
- No cross-site profiling.
Understanding how CALMFAX is used
We log basic usage events (such as page visits and quiz completions) on our own servers to understand how CALMFAX is used. This data is not shared with any third party, and no cookies or tracking pixels are used for it. Events are recorded against a hashed identifier — never your IP address — so they cannot be tied back to you.
If we introduce optional analytics in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this page. Non-essential storage will never load before you opt in.
Managing storage
You can clear CALMFAX's storage at any time via your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset locally cached preferences.
